BPO Boom: Dhaka to Host Pivotal Outsourcing Summit
One of the country’s most significant ICT events, the BPO Summit, is set to take place on June 21 and 22 at the Sena Prangon in Mirpur Cantonment, Dhaka. The theme for this year’s summit is “BPO 2.0: Revolution to Innovation.” This is the first time the event will be held near the Matikata Checkpost, bringing fresh energy to Bangladesh’s business process outsourcing landscape.
As part of the final preparations, the Bangladesh Association of Contact Center and Outsourcing (BACCO), the industry body representing the country’s BPO and call center sector, has been entering into memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with various partners.
According to organizers, the two-day event will feature thematic sessions, high-level panel discussions, a career fair, industry exhibitions, and a colorful awards ceremony. For the first time, international BPO stakeholders will also be part of the summit. In a notable development, BACCO’s executive committee recently held a meeting with Mr. Dharmapala Weerakkody, High Commissioner of Sri Lanka, to discuss bilateral collaboration in outsourcing and participation in the upcoming summit.
Also present in the meeting were Sri Lanka’s Commercial Counsellor Ms. Srimali Jayawardhane, BACCO President Tanvir Ibrahim, Vice President Md. Tanzirul Bashar, Joint Secretary Md. Musnad E Ahmed, and Directors Abdul Kader, Zayed Uddin Ahmed, Mehedi Hasan Zulfikar, and Sayma Shawkat.
According to an announcement on BACCO’s official Facebook page, this year’s summit is being organized jointly by the Bangladesh Association of Contact Centers and Outsourcing (BACCO), the ICT Divition and the ICT Business Promotion Council (IBPC). Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) will be associated as a strategic partner of this conference.
Senior government officials, interim government advisers, and top figures from the BPO and ICT industries are expected to attend. Organizers confirmed that guests from 15 countries may participate in the summit.
Previous editions of the BPO Summit have consistently showcased opportunities for youth employment, skill development, and strategies to expand Bangladesh’s footprint in global outsourcing markets. This year’s edition is expected to push the envelope even further.
