Gazipur Digital University Greets Bangla New Year with Grandeur

Gazipur Digital University (GDU) ushered in Bengali New Year 1432 with vibrant festivities and cultural pride on Monday (14 April). The celebrations began at 10:30 AM and included a joyous procession, a discussion session, and a captivating cultural performance, all held in a festive and colorful setting.
The day’s events commenced with a festive rally led by Assistant Professor and Chair of the New Year Celebration Committee, Ms. Farhana Islam. The lively procession saw enthusiastic participation from students, faculty, and staff, who embraced the spirit of Pahela Baishakh with traditional attire, festive decorations, and high spirits.
Following the rally, the university hosted a discussion session and cultural performances to mark the occasion. The Vice Chancellor of GDU, Professor Dr. Mohammad Abu Yusuf, attended as the chief guest.
In his address, the Vice Chancellor stated, “Pahela Baishakh is the festival of our hearts. It is not just the beginning of a new year, but a radiant reflection of our thousand-year-old heritage, culture, and national identity. The essence of this celebration lies in bringing people closer, fostering unity and empathy in society, and building an inclusive Bangladesh.”
He extended New Year greetings to everyone and thanked the New Year Celebration Committee and all participants for organizing such a beautiful and disciplined event.
The program concluded with a delightful cultural performance dedicated to welcoming the New Year. Throughout the day, the GDU community embraced the Bengali New Year in a unique atmosphere of joy and unity.
