CUET Celebrates Bengali New Year with Colour and Culture

Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) marked the Bengali New Year 1432 with vibrant festivities and a spirit of unity on Monday. The event drew enthusiastic participation from a large number of students, faculty, and staff, creating a festive atmosphere across the campus.
Professor Dr. Mahmud Abdul Matin Bhuiyan, Vice Chancellor of CUET, attended the celebration as the chief guest. For the first time, a significant number of students from various residential halls joined the festivities, carrying colorful festoons, placards, and flutes, and took part in a joyous procession and other cultural activities.
The day’s celebrations commenced with the national anthem in front of CUET’s Administrative Building-2, followed by a spirited rendition of "Eso He Boishakh" that launched the festive procession.
In his welcome speech after the procession, Vice Chancellor Dr. Mahmud Abdul Matin Bhuiyan extended New Year greetings to all present and said, "Pahela Baishakh helps promote the values of our culture, peace, and unity. Let us rise above all forms of division and discrimination, and hold firmly to humanity, love, and solidarity. This New Year can be a key to building a better future—one that brings love, peace, and prosperity for all."
The concluding remarks were delivered by Professor Dr. Md. Mahbubul Alam, Director of the Office of Student Welfare. The event was moderated by Mr. Mohammad Fazlur Rahman, Deputy Director (Public Relations).
The day also featured a variety of other programs, including traditional panta-ilish feasting and a kite-flying festival, adding to the celebratory spirit of the occasion.
