JUST Celebrates Joyous New Year 1432

With the slogan “Harmony of the New Year for Happiness, Prosperity, and Peace in a New Bangladesh — End to Fascism,” Jessore University of Science and Technology (JUST) welcomed the Bengali New Year 1432 in a festive and colorful manner. The celebrations began on Monday at 9:30 AM with a vibrant procession from the university's main gate.
The procession, led by Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Anwarul Majid along with Treasurer Professor Dr. Hossain Al Mamun, started at the main gate and paraded through the university's central avenue, ending at the central playground. A spirit of unity and celebration was evident among students, faculty, and staff.
Following the procession, the Vice Chancellor visited the Youth and Entrepreneurs' Fair, organized as part of the festivities. The day’s centerpiece event, Festival of Indigenous Culture 2025, commenced soon after.
Extending New Year greetings as the chief guest, Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Anwarul Majid stated, “Let the New Year be a blessing for us all. May it erase past sorrows and bring fresh renewal. Just as trees are filled with new leaves, may we too be transformed, becoming more humane. If we cannot become compassionate human beings, our very purpose on this Earth comes into question. I envision a self-reliant, modern, and humane Bangladesh emerging from the July 2024 movement, and young people must lead this transformation. From schools to universities, our youth must be nurtured into compassionate entrepreneurs and leaders who will work for the nation’s progress.”
The day-long celebration also featured various segments under the Youth and Entrepreneurs' Fair and Festival of Indigenous Culture, including children's costume contests, traditional and folk music, poetry recitations, stick fighting (lathi khela), humorous debates, theatrical performances, storytelling by young entrepreneurs, and finally, a closing and award distribution ceremony.
The program was chaired by Director of Student Counseling and Guidance Dr. Md. Rafiqul Hasan, with speeches also delivered by Treasurer Professor Dr. Hossain Al Mamun and Proctor Professor Dr. S. M. Nur Alam. Among the attendees were Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology Dr. Md. Amzad Hossain, Dean of the Faculty of Biological Science and Technology Professor Dr. Md. Sirajul Islam, along with faculty members, students, officials, and staff from various departments.
JUST’s Jhenaidah Campus also welcomed the New Year through a joyful procession and traditional cultural events.
