In a move to enhance environmentally friendly seed technology, the Bangladesh Seed Association has signed an agreement with Dutch company SeedNL. Additionally, an MoU has been signed between Greenhouse Delta of the Netherlands and Bangladesh’s ACI Limited to establish a 20,000-square-foot greenhouse in Mowna, Gazipur.

These agreements were signed on Thursday (April 10), the final day of the Investment Summit, during the 'Agriculture and Agro-processing' seminar organized by the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) in Dhaka.

Speaking at the seminar, Nuria Lopez of the European Union Chamber of Commerce in Bangladesh (EuroCham) highlighted the country’s advantages: "Bangladesh has fertile land, a favorable climate, and a strong rural foundation. These elements make it a promising destination for agricultural investment and crop processing."

In the keynote presentation, Ariful Haque, Director of International Investment Promotion at BIDA, emphasized Bangladesh’s strategic location: "Being positioned between China, ASEAN, and the Middle East, Bangladesh has the potential to directly trade with over 3 billion consumers."

He further noted that infrastructure development in the country’s ports would significantly improve export efficiency: "Once the ongoing projects are completed, transport time for exports will be reduced by one-third."

Ariful also stressed Bangladesh’s competitive trade advantages: "The country enjoys duty-free access to the EU and China. With the capacity to sustain 7% GDP growth over the next five years, Bangladesh presents a strong case for investment."
