Voter Verification Extended: EC Adds Nine More Days for Data Upload
The Election Commission (EC) has extended the deadline for uploading data collected during the door-to-door voter list update campaign by nine days. Originally scheduled to end on April 11, the new deadline has been set for April 20, due to concerns that the process could not be completed on time.
The extension was officially communicated on Thursday (April 10) by Md. Nasir Uddin Chowdhury, Senior Assistant Secretary of the EC, who issued instructions to field officials. The directive stated: "With the approval of the Election Commission, the deadline for uploading new voter data via the software system as part of the house-to-house voter list update campaign has been extended until April 20."
According to EC sources, the decision to extend the timeline was prompted by slow data collection in certain areas, technical difficulties, and natural disasters that disrupted the process in several regions, making it impossible to complete the uploads by the initial deadline.
The EC emphasized that the extension aims to ensure accurate inclusion of new voters and that no eligible citizen is left out. Field workers have been instructed to complete all uploads within the revised timeframe.
As per the latest update, the total number of registered voters in the country now stands at 123,732,274.
