Highway Police Enhance Digital Monitoring for Safe Eid Travel

The Highway Police are utilizing the Hello HP Ops app to control patrol teams and ensure a safe Eid journey. A Petrol Intelligence system is also in place. On the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway, out of 1,400 installed cameras, 1,350 are actively monitoring traffic digitally.

With the onset of the Eid travel rush, an additional 700 personnel are being deployed alongside the existing 300 patrol officers. This brings the total to 1,100 officers, who will be responsible for securing 3,900 kilometers of highways across the country.

The Highway Police App, designed to enhance digital security on highways, includes location-based contact details of patrol officers. Victims or those in need of assistance can activate WhatsApp tracking to locate the nearest patrol unit, while patrol teams can also track travelers’ locations to respond quickly.

Regarding the safety measures, Highway Police Headquarters DIG Mohammad Shafiqul Islam stated, "Several steps have been taken to ensure a safe and comfortable Eid journey. Illegal roadside markets have been removed from highways. Due to a manpower shortage, we faced difficulties in maintaining order, but 700 additional personnel have already been recruited. We are also seeking another 300 officers. Currently, 300 teams are patrolling highways to prevent crimes such as robbery and hijacking. As Eid approaches, we will further increase the number of patrols. In case of any incident, our teams will reach the location within 15 minutes."

He further added, "Patrol teams are being managed through an app. The Highway Police have access to its data, and transport workers, owners, and passengers can also connect to the app. This will allow them to see the locations of Highway Police patrol teams in real time."
