Starlink Set to Launch Commercial Services in Bangladesh Within 90 Days

Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus has directed the commercial launch of Starlink’s satellite broadband internet services in Bangladesh within 90 days.

On Tuesday, the Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary, Shafiqul Alam, shared this information in a Facebook post.

In his post, he wrote, "In March, the Honorable Chief Adviser directed that Starlink’s satellite broadband internet service be commercially launched in Bangladesh within 90 days. While Starlink has used its foreign satellite broadband gateway during trial operations, the company will adhere to NGSO regulations and utilize a local broadband gateway or IIG when providing commercial services in Bangladesh."

Earlier, on March 8, the Chief Adviser’s Special Assistant for Posts, Telecommunications, and Information Technology, Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb, stated that a Starlink delegation was visiting Bangladesh. During the visit, agreements were made with various Bangladeshi entities to facilitate the launch of Starlink’s internet services in the country.

On February 19, Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus formally invited Starlink’s founder and SpaceX CEO, Elon Musk, to visit Bangladesh and participate in the official launch of the satellite service.

Prior to this, on February 13, the Chief Adviser and Elon Musk held an extended telephone conversation, during which they discussed future cooperation and reviewed the progress of launching Starlink services in Bangladesh.
