The Project Implementation Committee of the Jatiya Sangsad has held detailed discussions on various aspects of implementing the 'e-Bangladesh Parliament' project to make parliamentary activities modern, dynamic, and technology-driven. Concurrently, considering international acceptance and recognition, a decision was adopted to change the project's name from 'e-Parliament' to 'e-Bangladesh Parliament'. The decision was taken at the first meeting of the project implementation committee held at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban on Tuesday, November 3, 2026. Committee President and Deputy Speaker Barrister Kaiser Kamal presided over the meeting.

During the meeting, emphasis was placed on the proper implementation of project activities, coordination among various components, and avoiding duplication of work. Furthermore, a three-member subcommittee was formed to thoroughly verify whether there is any overlapping or duplication of work in activities including the sound system under the project. Committee members Sayeed Al Noman, Lutfullahel Majed, and Anna Minj have been assigned to review the relevant issues and submit a report with recommendations.

A B M Ashraf Uddin (Nizan), member of the 'e-Bangladesh Parliament' project implementation committee and Whip, stated that every parliamentary session, bill or law passage, MP attendance, and voting record will be directly integrated online through the e-Parliament. Speaking at a briefing at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban tunnel following the first meeting, he stated that once e-Parliament is operational, general citizens can easily learn about the roles their elected representatives are playing in parliament and how they are voting on specific issues.

He stated that an online portal or app will be launched to ensure citizen participation, allowing citizens to provide their views and suggestions prior to the passage of any draft law. Additionally, citizens will have the opportunity to submit e-petitions and send complaints directly to parliamentary committees from villages. Emphasizing the need to eliminate paper use in parliament to build a paperless environment and protect nature, he noted that cooperation from all sides is essential to build a modern and democratic parliament through combined efforts of government and opposition parties.

The meeting was attended by committee members including Whip A B M Ashraf Uddin (Nizan), Members of Parliament Nayab Yousuf Ahmed, Sayeed Al Noman, Hummam Quader Chowdhury, Mohammad Najibur Rahman, Akhtar Hossain, Lutfullahel Majed, and Anna Minj. Furthermore, relevant officials from the Bangladesh Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat and representatives from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) participated in the meeting.
