Nothing Develops Two Types of Smart Glasses with AI Features
Following its success in smartphones and other innovative gadgets, the youth-oriented technology brand Nothing is preparing to enter the smart glasses market. Technology analyst Roland Quandt has revealed that Nothing founder Carl Pei and his team are currently working on two different types of smart glasses.
One version will feature a built-in camera and offer a range of advanced services, including access to the AI-powered ChatGPT and real-time language translation.
The other version will be a relatively simpler pair of “audio glasses.” Equipped with built-in microphones and speakers, these glasses will allow users to listen to music and audiobooks like they would with headphones, as well as access AI assistants.
Special Features and Photochromic Lenses
Reports suggest that both upcoming Nothing smart glasses models will feature special photochromic lenses. These lenses will automatically darken when users step outside into bright sunlight, providing additional protection for their eyes.
Although no official images or prototypes of Nothing's upcoming smart glasses have been released so far, detailed designs and specifications could be unveiled soon.
Following its recent entry into the Bluetooth speaker market, the London-based company is now looking to expand its presence in the smart wearable segment.
Market Response and Challenges
Alongside launching several mid-range smartphones this year, Nothing has been focusing on developing a broader range of connected gadgets. Industry insiders believe that the simpler audio glasses could complement the company's existing audio audience and headphone business.
However, some analysts believe that developing sophisticated hardware, such as camera-equipped smart glasses, could pose a challenge for an emerging company like Nothing, given the substantial resources and research required.
Nevertheless, Nothing's entry into the promising smart wearable market has already sparked considerable curiosity among technology enthusiasts.
