- Nagad has launched a redesigned app focused on faster, simpler and safer transactions
- Device binding and artificial intelligence are part of its security measures
- Loans, fixed deposits and insurance are planned as future additions
Nagad, the mobile financial services provider operated by the Bangladesh Post Office, has launched a new app designed to make digital transactions faster, easier and more secure. Combining a user-friendly interface with modern technology and artificial intelligence-based security features, the app aims to improve customers’ everyday financial experience. Nagad said it would continue upgrading the platform and introducing new features in phases.
The new app is now available on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. Customers need to update the app before making new transactions to ensure uninterrupted access to digital financial services.
According to Nagad, the app has been designed to reduce response, loading and lag times compared with other financial service apps. Frequently used features have also been arranged according to customer needs. Its simple, streamlined interface is intended to make the service accessible to people across different communities, including those in underserved areas.
The app supports payments, money transfers, mobile recharges, cash-outs, utility bill payments and interoperable financial services. These features are intended to give customers greater flexibility in managing their transactions and help accelerate Bangladesh’s transition towards a cashless economy.
Nagad also plans to introduce additional financial services in the near future, including customer loans, fixed deposits and insurance.
Security has been a major focus in the app’s development, particularly in reducing the risk of transaction-related fraud. A device-binding feature has been introduced to strengthen account protection. According to Nagad, the app also incorporates a multilayered security framework based on international standards and technology-driven fraud prevention measures.
Artificial intelligence has also been integrated into the security system to address fraud and AI-assisted hacking risks. The system is designed to identify suspicious security threats in real time and take preventive measures.
Motasim Billah, the administrator appointed by Bangladesh Bank at Nagad, said, “The new app has been launched with the highest priority given to customers’ financial security alongside maximum convenience. We have combined a modern, user-friendly experience with a robust security framework. As a result, customers will be able to complete their everyday digital transactions more easily and quickly while keeping their personal information and money protected.”
He added that Nagad’s primary goal was to build an ecosystem in which customers could complete all their everyday financial transactions through a single app. He also said that new services and security features would continue to be introduced in response to customers’ changing financial needs.
