Students from the 2021 series of the Department of Architecture at Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) secured second and third places in two separate competitions at Bangladesh ArchSummit 2026. A three-member RUET team finished second in the Urban Hackathon by presenting innovative and sustainable solutions to complex urbanisation challenges. Another team secured third place in the quiz competition on architecture, design and the built environment.

The four-day Bangladesh ArchSummit 2026 was organised by the Institute of Architects Bangladesh (IAB) at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre from October 8 to 11. Students from architecture schools across the country participated in the event.

The RUET team that secured second place in the Urban Hackathon comprised Dewan Shahriar Parvez Soumit, Ishrak Wasi Khan and Rahid Bin Zafar Sami. The team presented innovative and sustainable approaches to addressing various complex challenges associated with urbanisation.

In the quiz competition, another RUET team secured third place, demonstrating its knowledge and skills in architecture, design and the built environment. The team members were Tasmia Labannya, Jannatul Ferdous Chowdhury Mim and Ramisha Mohsin.

Sohan Ferdous, a student from the same series, also delivered a commendable impromptu speech in the ‘Impromptu Politico’ segment.

Z. H. M. Manzur Morshed, an assistant professor in RUET’s Department of Architecture and deputy director of the university’s Student Welfare Office, served as the mentor for the RUET participants at Bangladesh ArchSummit 2026.
