SPARSO Showcases Satellite Science: Seminar Highlights Earth Surface Monitoring Innovations

The Bangladesh Space Research and Remote Sensing Organization (SPARSO) hosted a day-long seminar titled "Progress in Earth Surface Monitoring Utilizing Remote Sensing Techniques: Bangladesh Perspective", under its ongoing project "Enhancing SPARSO’s Capabilities."
The seminar, held on Monday, was inaugurated by SPARSO Chairman and Additional Secretary Md. Rashidul Islam, who attended as the chief guest. Brigadier General A.K.M. Fazlur Rahman of the Ministry of Defence joined as the special guest, while the event was presided over by SPARSO Member Jashim Uddin Hayder.
Keynote presentations were delivered by Professor Dr. M. Shahidul Islam of the University of Dhaka, who presented a paper titled "Application of GIS and Remote Sensing in Integrated Coastal Zone Management: Bangladesh Context."
Another keynote paper titled "Remote Sensing Application for Climate Risk Assessment" was presented by Professor A.K.M. Saiful Islam of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET).
The seminar brought together eminent academics, scientists, and representatives from various ministries and organizations, including the University of Dhaka, BUET, Jahangirnagar University, and Jagannath University, alongside officials from the Ministry of Defence and other government agencies.
