Huawei, EWU Partner to Offer Free AI Training
- Huawei will launch AI training at EWU through its ICT Academy
- Students will receive free access to self-paced online courses
- Six courses will cover AI fundamentals, applications and processor development
Huawei has partnered with East West University (EWU) to provide students with free artificial intelligence (AI) training and help them develop skills for Bangladesh’s growing technology and innovation sector. The partnership was formalised through a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed recently at EWU’s main campus. The programme will operate under the Huawei ICT Academy at the university.
Ma Ben, Managing Director for Public Affairs at Huawei South Asia, and Professor Dr Mohammad Ashik Mosaddik, Acting Vice-Chancellor of East West University, signed the MoU on behalf of their respective organisations. Professor Dr Ahmed Wasif Reza, Dean of EWU’s Faculty of Sciences and Engineering, faculty members and other representatives from both organisations also attended the signing ceremony.
Professor Dr Mohammad Ashik Mosaddik said Huawei, a leading global provider of information and communications technology solutions and equipment, brings world-class expertise in ICT and AI. He said the university was pleased to partner with the company because the arrangement would allow students to learn AI from leading industry experts.
He added that the opportunity would help EWU students develop future-ready skills and prepare for careers in AI. Huawei’s initiative to improve the skills of young people in Bangladesh, he said, was encouraging for academic institutions.
Speaking at the event, Ma Ben highlighted Huawei’s commitment to developing skilled young professionals in Bangladesh by working with universities to build a workforce prepared for industry needs.
“Guided by our commitment, ‘In Bangladesh, For Bangladesh,’ the Huawei ICT Academy-AI Training Program is our long-term vision to nurture young talent in the country,” he said. He noted that Bangladesh’s innovation-driven economy was growing and explained that collaboration with universities such as EWU could bridge the gap between industry and academia while preparing young people for the digital future.
Under the partnership, Huawei will offer its ICT Academy AI training programme to EWU students. EWU professors will guide and monitor the launch of training modules, student enrolment and participants’ progress.
Students will receive free access to self-paced online courses covering six subjects: Math Basics, Overview of AI, Intelligent Cultural Computing, AI: Principles and Applications, AI Technology and Applications, and AI Processor Development. The courses are designed to help students build foundational knowledge and develop skills in AI technologies and their applications.
