NSDA Sets National Standards for Chinese Language
Technical curriculum validated to empower youth in AI and robotics
- NSDA formulates Competency Standards and CAD for Chinese language occupation
- Training aligns with BNQF levels 2-3, matching international HSK levels 1-2
- Joint certification planned with Chinese universities to boost tech-industry employment
Aligning human resource capabilities with frontier industries like robotics, artificial intelligence, and global manufacturing, the National Skills Development Authority (NSDA) has formulated the nation’s first Competency Standards (CS) and Course Accreditation Document (CAD) for the 'Chinese Language' occupation. The announcement came during the concluding session of a validation workshop held at the NSDA conference hall on Tuesday, 25 August.
Addressing as chief guest, Md. Ismail Zabiullah, Adviser to the Ministry of Public Administration, stated, "China is advancing rapidly across robotics, AI, and advanced engineering technologies. To build global competitiveness and generate employment, we must expand technology-driven, hybrid, and digital platforms to deliver structured Chinese language training, bridging the gap for higher technical education and industrial integration."
Speaking as guest of honor, Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen highlighted that strategic projects like the Chinese Economic Zone in Chittagong are creating high-value employment avenues, where bilingual technical skills will facilitate seamless operational collaboration with Chinese tech investors.
Presiding over the event, NSDA Executive Chairman Dr. Nazneen Kawshar Chowdhury stated that the curriculum transitions language learning into an accredited, employment-ready technical occupation. Developed following an intensive technical workshop from 16 to 19 August, the standardized framework is aligned with Levels 2 and 3 of the Bangladesh National Qualifications Framework (BNQF), equivalent to international HSK Levels 1 and 2.
The event evaluated plans for institutionalizing joint certification frameworks with Chinese universities across NSDA-registered training centers. Special guests included Bangladesh-China Friendship Association President Advocate Nazmul Huq Nannu and Informal Sector Industry Skills Council Chairman Mirza Nurul Ghani Shovon, alongside industry consultants and technical training delegates.
