Universal College Bangladesh (UCBD) has recognised 178 students who successfully completed internationally accredited Monash pathway programmes, highlighting the growing importance of global higher education and Australia-Bangladesh academic collaboration.

The certificates were awarded on 7 July ,Tuesday, during UCBD's 2026 Annual Convocation at Le Méridien Dhaka to graduates of the Monash University Foundation Year (MUFY) and Monash College Diploma (MCD) programmes.

Australian High Commission Acting High Commissioner Nicholas McLean attended the ceremony as the chief guest. Congratulating the graduates, he said education services have become one of the key drivers of trade growth between Australia and Bangladesh. He added that higher education and skills development play a vital role in expanding bilateral trade and investment.

He reaffirmed Australia's commitment to providing quality education for international students and supporting Bangladeshi students pursuing higher education in Australia.

Monash College Executive Director (Pathway Partnerships) Tania Perera attended the event as the special guest. She praised the graduates for their dedication and academic excellence, saying they have demonstrated the capability and mindset required to succeed in the global academic environment.

As the exclusive partner of Monash College in Bangladesh, UCBD delivers internationally recognised pathway programmes that allow students to begin their Australian higher education journey from Bangladesh before progressing to Monash University and other leading universities worldwide.

The Monash University Foundation Year programme prepares students for undergraduate admission, while the Monash College Diploma is recognised as equivalent to the first year of selected Monash University bachelor's degrees, enabling successful students to enter directly into the second year.

STS Group Chief Executive Officer Manas Singh said that despite tighter international visa policies, UCBD students continue to progress smoothly to higher education in Australia. He noted that globally recognised academic standards continue to create international opportunities for Bangladeshi students.
