Integrated Action Plan Underway to Elevate Primary Education to Global Standards: Bobby Hajjaj
State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj stated that the government is implementing an integrated and long-term action plan to make schools more engaging and establish a world-class primary education system. He made the remarks after inspecting several schools in Dhaka.
State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj has stated that the government is implementing a coordinated and long-term action plan to bring students back to schools, eliminate learning gaps, and build a world-class primary education system. The State Minister made the comments today, Monday (July 6), while interacting with media personnel at Agargaon Taltola Government Primary School after inspecting various government primary schools across the Dhaka North City Corporation area.
The State Minister noted that to achieve these goals, the government is working simultaneously on distributing free uniforms, developing technology-driven classrooms, redesigning the curriculum, formulating a teacher development policy, and upgrading school infrastructure.
Mentioning that he has been inspecting government primary schools in different regions of the country over the last four months, he said that a special initiative has been taken to observe the infrastructural development, classroom environment, and actual education activities in Dhaka's primary schools. Under the ongoing "Drishtinandan" project aimed at modernizing schools in the capital, on-site evaluations are being carried out to identify existing gaps.
Sharing his experience during the school visits, Bobby Hajjaj mentioned that he observed students' learning progress through interactive storytelling and educational activities rather than conducting formal classes. He found that while most students are performing well, some are lagging behind in specific subjects. He instructed the respective teachers to pay special attention to those students.
The State Minister further added that the current curriculum is being restructured to make it simpler, more effective, and student-centric. Concurrently, work is underway to formulate an integrated teacher policy that encompasses recruitment, training, Continuous Professional Development (CPD), Key Performance Indicators (KPI), duties, supervision, and training frameworks at the upazila and district levels. Significant progress was achieved in a recent high-level meeting regarding this policy.
As part of a technology-driven education system, plans have been adopted to introduce video lessons, smart classrooms, flat panels, instant evaluation systems, and modern mechanisms to identify and address learning deficiencies in students, the Minister informed.
"Our objective is not merely infrastructural development; we want to bring a fundamental shift in the quality of education. We are working to elevate primary education to global standards by integrating students, teachers, administration, technology, and curriculum," he said. He expressed optimism that the government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, is determined to bring a revolutionary change to primary education, ensuring a modern, quality, and joyful learning environment for every child.
Divisional Deputy Director of Primary Education for Dhaka Region Md. Abdul Aziz, Dhaka District Primary Education Officer, and Upazila Primary Education Officers of various thanas were present during the visit, alongside students and parents.
