UCB Promotes Shafikur Rahman and Ridwanul Haque to Deputy Managing Director

United Commercial Bank PLC has promoted two of its senior executives, Mohammad Shafikur Rahman and Md. Ridwanul Haque, to the position of Deputy Managing Director. The promotions recognize their outstanding contributions to the bank's business growth, customer service, and organizational leadership.

Prior to the promotion, Mohammad Shafikur Rahman served as Senior Executive Vice President and Head of the Retail Business Division. Md. Ridwanul Haque was serving as Senior Executive Vice President and Head of the Distribution and Strategy Division.

Mohammad Shafikur Rahman brings more than 27 years of banking experience. After completing his master's degree in 1995, he began his banking career with ANZ Grindlays Bank in May 1999. Following the bank's merger, he joined Standard Chartered Bank Bangladesh in 2001, where he held several key positions, including Head of Corporate Branch and Director of Personal and Priority Client Acquisition.

He joined UCB as Head of the Retail Business Division in October 2022 and also served as Head of Service Quality and Imperial Banking. Under his leadership, the bank has strengthened its retail business structure, improved operational efficiency, enhanced internal processes, and fostered a performance-driven organizational culture.

He currently serves as a board member of UCB Asset Management Limited as UCB's nominated representative. Throughout his career, he has participated in leadership development and professional training programs across Europe, the Americas, and other countries.

Md. Ridwanul Haque earned both his Bachelor of Business Administration and Master of Business Administration degrees from the University of Chittagong. He has more than 24 years of experience in the banking sector and has held key positions at HSBC, Bank Alfalah, and several local and multinational financial institutions.

Before joining UCB, he served as Head of Retail and SME Business at NCC Bank PLC, where he played a significant role in business expansion and the development of innovative banking services.

At UCB, he currently oversees all branches, sub-branches, the agent banking division, and alternative delivery channel operations. Under his leadership, the bank has expanded customer-focused services, strengthened financial inclusion, and accelerated business growth.

He has also attended professional development and skills enhancement programs in Brunei, Thailand, India, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, and other countries.

According to the bank, both executives have played vital roles over the past two years in driving deposit growth, acquiring new customers, expanding business operations, and achieving overall organizational growth. UCB expressed confidence that, in their new roles, they will further contribute to the bank's business expansion, digital transformation, and customer service excellence through their experience, visionary leadership, and innovative approach.
