5-day cyber conference concludes with honors
The five-day 'Phoenix Summit 2026' concluded at BCFCC in Dhaka, focusing on closing cyber gaps and fostering digital resilience. Attended by Information Minister Zahir Uddin Swapan, the event saw over 10,000 participants engaging in panels on AI and infrastructure security. Industry pioneers like Sumon Ahmed Sabir were honored with lifetime achievement awards for their contributions to Bangladesh's cyber landscape.
The five-day cybersecurity convergence platform, 'Phoenix Summit 2026', successfully concluded under the theme 'Closing the Cyber Gap in Emerging Economies'. The Cyber Security Club of Islamic University was honored for its contributions to raising cybersecurity awareness.
Meanwhile, Joyeeta Sen Rimpy, Deputy General Manager (Domain) of BTCL, received a special honor for inspiring women, and Suman Ahmed Sabir, Chief Information Officer (CIO) of Fiber@Home, was presented with a 'Lifetime Honor Award' for his lifelong contributions to the cybersecurity industry.
The grand closing ceremony, held on Saturday afternoon, June 27, at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Center (BCFCC) in Dhaka, featured Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapan as the chief guest.
Organized by the country's leading cybersecurity initiative, 'The Team Phoenix Group (TTPG)', and sponsored by BRAC Bank PLC, the conference attracted over 10,000 participants. It hosted 73 stalls from various organizations and involved 18 universities.
In his address, Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapan stated, "During our recent visit to China, we discussed technology with their policymakers. Our Prime Minister is considering how to leverage their technological expertise and soft power. Our demographic reality, or our youth, is a significant advantage for us."
ASM Shamim Reza, Founder and Chief of Research of The Team Phoenix Group, noted that the knowledge exchange generated by this summit will play a crucial role in enhancing Bangladesh's digital security and resilience in the future.
Among others present at the closing ceremony were Adil Hossain Nobel, managing director of AccenTech PLC, Aminul Hakim, president of ISPAAB; and Fawzia I. Abro, UN Women STEM cybersecurity expert.
Previously, important technical workshops were held in collaboration with the National Cyber Security Agency (NCSA) during the first three days of the conference, which began on June 23.
