Mamunur Rashid Bhuiyan Appointed Acting ICT Secretary

Promoted from the rank of Additional Secretary, Md. Mamunur Rashid Bhuiyan has been appointed as the Acting Secretary of the Information and Communication Technology Division (ICTD) at the beginning of the Eid holidays.

Meanwhile, incumbent secretary Kazi Anwar Hossain has been transferred and attached to the Ministry of Public Administration as Secretary.

The Ministry of Public Administration issued the appointment and transfer orders through two separate notifications on Monday, May 25.

The notifications were signed on behalf of the President by Senior Assistant Secretary Md. Tanvir Hasan Ruman.

According to the gazette issued from the ministry’s Senior Appointments-1 Branch, the orders, issued in the public interest, will take immediate effect.

Both senior officials assigned to the ICT Division have long been involved in various policymaking and administrative activities within Bangladesh’s ICT sector. As the new Acting Secretary, Md. Mamunur Rashid Bhuiyan will serve as the administrative head overseeing ongoing projects related to digital infrastructure development and the implementation of the Smart Bangladesh initiative. He has also been serving as the head of Aspire to Innovate (a2i).

Copies of the order have been sent to all relevant departments for necessary action, including the Cabinet Secretary, the Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, and the Private Secretary to the Minister of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology.

Administrative records show that Kazi Anwar Hossain joined the ICT Division as Secretary on August 20, 2024. Accordingly, he served in the position for 1 year, 9 months, and 5 days before being transferred to the Ministry of Public Administration on May 25.
