PM Tarique Rahman Tours Locally Built EVs, Sports Cars at Tech Showcase
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman visited a special exhibition featuring locally manufactured eco-friendly sports cars and electric vehicle (EV) technologies in Bangladesh.
The exhibition was held on Saturday morning, May 23, at the Prime Minister’s Office premises in Tejgaon, Dhaka. During the visit, the Prime Minister inspected several luxury sports cars, environmentally friendly EV trucks and lorries, and electric motorcycles developed with local technology. He also inquired in detail about the vehicles’ engineering, software, and technical features.
Senior government officials and leading representatives from the country’s automobile sector were present at the event. At one stage of the exhibition tour, the Prime Minister personally test-drove a sports car and an electric lorry. Later, during discussions with representatives of the participating companies, he emphasized expanding the production capacity of the local automobile industry and promoting these environmentally friendly technologies beyond the domestic market to the international stage.
After hearing about the opportunities and challenges faced by entrepreneurs, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman called on the country’s youth and young IT professionals to become actively involved in this promising modern technology sector. He noted that the initiative to locally manufacture sports cars and electric lorries would serve as a major milestone in transforming the country’s digital infrastructure and sustainable transportation ecosystem.
A video of the Prime Minister inspecting the EVs and driving a covered van and a white sports car was later published on the official Facebook page of the Prime Minister’s Office.
