Bangladesh’s National Cyber Security Agency has organized the ‘National Cyber Drill 2026’ to strengthen digital information security and protect Critical Information Infrastructure (CII) across the country’s banking and financial sectors. In this year’s competition, the team ‘CyberSavvy’ from Mutual Trust Bank PLC emerged as champion by securing the highest score of 5,750. The ‘DBBL Cyber Squad’ from Dutch-Bangla Bank PLC claimed second place, while ‘CBBL Warrior’ from Community Bank Bangladesh PLC finished third.

The competition results were disclosed to the media on Saturday, May 23. Organizers said technical teams from 68 banks, financial institutions, and critical organizations across the country participated in the drill held on Saturday, May 16. The exercise evaluated participants’ capabilities in handling realistic cyberattacks, digital forensics, web security, and threat analysis as part of this national cyber resilience initiative.

Organizers described the event as a major milestone in enhancing the cyber security capacity of young professionals and IT experts in Bangladesh, continuing the momentum created by last year’s sixth Blockchain and AI Olympiad (BCOLBD).

The digital drill was conducted under the overall supervision of Dr. Md. Taiybur Rahman, Director General of the National Cyber Security Agency. At the closing ceremony, quoting the agency’s Director (Operation-2) Md. Hossain Bin Amin, organizers said such initiatives would play a vital role in building coordinated national cyber defense capabilities and improving preparedness against emerging cyber threats.

Cyber security experts associated with the drill noted that amid ongoing global supply chain disruptions and instability in the IT hardware market, exercises of this nature would significantly help financial institutions strengthen and safeguard their internal networks.
