Trump Media Turmoil: Board Exit Amid Truth Social Troubles
Eric Swider has resigned from the board of Trump Media & Technology Group. The company disclosed this information in a regulatory filing on Thursday (9 April).
Swider was the Chief Executive Officer of the “blank-check” acquisition company through which Trump Media went public in 2024. He led Digital World Acquisition Corp. (DWAC). However, in 2023, DWAC reached a settlement with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) over allegations of fraud.
The allegations stated that the company misled investors and concealed its plan to acquire Trump Media prior to the IPO. At that time, Swider was serving as CEO of DWAC. However, Trump Media has stated that his current resignation is not due to any disagreement with the company’s management or board.
Trump Media is currently facing multiple challenges. Its Truth Social platform is struggling to remain competitive. User growth has been uneven and unpredictable, and the platform is finding it difficult to compete with major social media platforms.
In this context, analysts believe that the resignation of a key board member could impact the company’s future plans.
