Mar 30, 2026 00:34

The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) is set to hold its 305th meeting today, marking the first commission session since the new BNP-led government assumed office following the 13th National Parliamentary Election. The meeting will take place at the BTRC headquarters in Agargaon, Dhaka.

The session will be chaired by BTRC Chairman Major General (Retd.) Emdad Ul Bari, with Vice Chairman Md. Abu Bakar Siddique, Spectrum Division Commissioner Mahmud Hossain, Engineering & Operations Division Commissioner Brigadier General Iqbal Ahmed, and Legal & Licensing Division Commissioner Abdur Rahman Sardar in attendance.

Originally scheduled for March 29, the meeting was postponed to March 30, the day after the Eid holidays. Sources indicate that the agenda will focus on unresolved issues from previous sessions and follow-up on earlier decisions. All directors general, directors, and the chairman’s private secretary have been formally notified.

On Sunday afternoon, ahead of the commission meeting, the chairman and commissioners held a separate discussion with Prime Minister’s Adviser on Posts, Telecommunications & ICT and Science & Technology, Rehan Asif Asad. That meeting covered key policy matters including the Telecommunication Network & Licensing Policy 2025, the Bangladesh Telecommunication (Amendment) Ordinance 2025, and the BTRC Ordinance (Amended 2025–2026). As a result, the agenda for today’s meeting may be revised at the last moment to incorporate these policy discussions.

This 305th session is expected to be a significant policy-setting meeting for the commission under the new government.
