Abdur Rashid Mia Appointed Chief Engineer of LGED on Contract

Md. Abdur Rashid Mia has been given the current charge of Chief Engineer of the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED). An office order signed by Senior Assistant Secretary Jasmin Pradhan of the Development-1 branch of the Local Government Division on Tuesday, March 24, gave him this responsibility.

The order stated that Md. Abdur Rashid Mia, Additional Chief Engineer (Grade-3) of LGED's Human Resources Development, Quality Control and Environment Unit, has been given the 'current charge' of LGED's Chief Engineer as an addition to his own responsibilities.

Abdur Rashid Mia, while serving as Additional Chief Engineer (Grade-3) of LGED's Human Resources Development, Quality Control and Environment Unit, was initially appointed as Chief Engineer of LGED on an interim basis on February 4 of last year. He retired towards the end of last year.

Abdur Rashid Mia graduated in Civil Engineering from the then Bangladesh Institute of Technology (now Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology) in 1987 and obtained a master's degree in Environmental Science from State University of Bangladesh in 2014.

Abdur Rashid Mia started his career as a Project Engineer at the Japanese multinational company Mitsubishi. Later, in 1989, he joined the Local Government Engineering Bureau (LGEB) headquarters as an Assistant Engineer through the Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC). He was promoted to Executive Engineer in 2006.

Subsequently, he was promoted to Supervising Engineer in 2019. After that, he served in the Human Resources, Environment and Gender Unit. He was promoted to Additional Chief Engineer in 2023.
