National Citizen Party (NCP) South Zone Chief Coordinator Hasnat Abdullah has posted a message on social media opposing the speech of President Mohammed Shahabuddin during the first session of the 13th National Parliament.

On Thursday, 12 March, Hasnat wrote “Red card – Get Out Chuppu” in a post from his verified Facebook account. The Member of Parliament from the Comilla-4 constituency published the post while the President was delivering his speech in Parliament. The post quickly spread across social media.

In another post, the cultural organization Inqilab Mancha demanded the removal of President Mohammed Shahabuddin from office and called for him to face trial. The group also warned that it would call for a full-scale resistance movement if the demand is not met.

In the post, Inqilab Mancha wrote: “If Chuppu, an associate of the Bangladesh Awami League, is not removed from the post of President and brought to justice, Inqilab Mancha will call for a full-scale resistance movement.”

Earlier, Members of Parliament from the alliance led by Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami staged a walkout from the parliamentary session in protest against the President’s speech during the opening sitting of the House.
