Minister Urges Cable Operators to Embrace Modern Technology
Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapan has said that cable operators must adapt to modern technology in order to survive. He noted that in this period of technological transformation, the government is prepared to provide both policy and technological support to sustain the cable television sector.
The minister made the remarks on Thursday, 12 March, while speaking as the chief guest at an iftar gathering organized by the Cable Operators Association of Bangladesh (COAB) in the capital.
The Information Minister said that the world is rapidly transforming into an internet-based society. The expansion of IPTV, OTT platforms, and various online services has created new challenges for the cable television business. Therefore, to remain competitive in this technology-driven environment, cable operators must become more proficient in using modern technologies.

If the state can establish the appropriate technological and policy frameworks, it will be possible to ensure a secure and sustainable business environment for entrepreneurs in the cable television sector.
At the event, the minister also urged COAB leaders to present the technical aspects of the cable television business through experts.
He further said that the responsibility of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting is to understand the problems of the relevant industry from multiple perspectives and to identify solutions in light of technological realities. He added that the ministry would continue to hold regular discussions with COAB regarding various issues facing cable operators in the future.
The event was attended by Shafiqul Haque Milon, leaders of COAB, and members of the organization.
