Popular short-video sharing platform TikTok will now allow users to listen to complete songs from Apple Music directly within the app. To enable this, the company is introducing a new feature called “Play Full Song,” developed using MusicKit technology, according to a report by Engadget.

According to the report, the feature will allow users to link their TikTok accounts with Apple Music and listen to any song in full without leaving the TikTok app. By tapping a button on the Sound Details page or the For You page, the song will begin playing instantly.

Apple Music subscribers will also be able to listen to a special in-app version of the track within TikTok, save it for later listening, or add it to their playlists.

In 2023, TikTok introduced the “Add to Music App” feature, which allows users to save songs they discover on TikTok to their streaming libraries. The new feature represents a further step forward, as it uses Apple’s MusicKit API. As a result, songs streamed through the “Play Full Song” option will count as regular streams for Apple Music, ensuring that artists do not lose any revenue.

In addition, TikTok and Apple Music are jointly launching a feature called “Listening Party.” This will be an audio-only livestream environment where fans can listen to music together with their favorite artists and interact with them in real time.

TikTok said that both the “Play Full Song” and “Listening Party” features will be rolled out globally over the next few weeks.
