Fraudsters Open Fake Email in NBR Chairman’s Name, Demand Money

A fraud ring has opened a fake email account in the name of National Board of Revenue (NBR) Chairman Md. Abdur Rahman Khan and has been demanding money from various individuals over the past few days. After the matter came to attention, a General Diary (GD) was filed on Tuesday, March 3, at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station in the capital.

Md. Al-Amin, Public Relations Officer of the National Board of Revenue, stated that a fraud ring had created a fake email ID using the name of the NBR Chairman. Through that fake ID, the fraudsters have been threatening various individuals and demanding money from them. The matter has come to the notice of the NBR. The fraud ring has been issuing threats based on completely false information.

A General Diary (GD) has been lodged against the fraud ring today at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station in the capital. The diary number is 258. All NBR officials and employees, as well as others, have been requested to remain cautious about this fraud ring.

Earlier, on September 24 of last year, a fraud ring hacked the WhatsApp number of NBR Chairman Md. Abdur Rahman Khan and sought to borrow money.
