Engineer Shahidul Hasan Appointed Local Government Division Secretary
The government has appointed a new Secretary to the Local Government Division. Former Chief Engineer of the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED), Engineer Shahidul Hasan , has been appointed to the post on a contractual basis for a period of one year.
A notification in this regard was issued on Tuesday, March 3, by the Contracts and Foreign Recruitment Branch of the Ministry of Public Administration.
According to the notification, in accordance with Section 49 of the Government Service Act, 2018, former Chief Engineer Shahidul Hasan has been appointed as Secretary of the Local Government Division on a contractual basis for a term of one year from the date of his joining. The appointment is subject to the condition that he relinquishes any employment relationship with any other profession, business, or government, semi-government, or private institution or organization.
The appointment of the highly efficient and astute Shahidul Hasan has sparked widespread joy among engineers of all disciplines, particularly within the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED).
When asked about the appointment of Md. Shahidul Hasan as Secretary on a contractual basis, most local government experts stated that this was due to the foresight of the BNP government, especially Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, in appointing a competent and scrupulous individual like Shahidul Hasan as Secretary of the Local Government Division, a crucial ministry. They expect unprecedented development across all sectors within this ministry as a result.
For context, on 1 March, the Secretary of the Local Government Division, Md. Rezaul Maksud Zahedi, was attached (OSD - Officer on Special Duty) to the Ministry of Public Administration.
