Snapchat to Host ‘Snappys’ Awards to Celebrate Creators
Social media platform Snapchat is organizing an awards ceremony titled the “Snappy Awards” for its content creators. The event will be held on March 31 at the company’s headquarters in Santa Monica, California. Comedian and content creator Matt Friend will host the event, according to Engadget.
Snapchat said that “Snappys” will be presented in various categories, including Spotlight MVP, Best Storyteller, and Breakout Creator of the Year. Awards will also be given for collaboration, cultural impact, and achievements in specific subject areas.
Recently, Snapchat introduced a separate subscription facility for creators. Analysts say that the awards initiative is part of that broader strategy, under which popular personalities from different fields will be recognized.
This is not the first initiative to honor creators on social media platforms. Last year, TikTok organized its first awards ceremony in the United States.
