Samsung’s venture investment arm is reportedly planning to join a $100 million funding round in California-based medical device startup Exo, according to a Bloomberg report cited by TechCrunch.

The round is being led by Sands Capital, Bold Capital, and Qubit Health Capital. The report further notes that Qubit Chairman Omar Ishrak is set to join Exo’s board of directors.

Founded in 2015, Exo develops handheld ultrasound devices that can be connected to smartphones, integrating artificial intelligence, medical imaging, and silicon technology. These devices are used in procedures such as lung scans and echocardiograms.

Exo has already raised more than $320 million from major investors including BlackRock, Intel, Sony, and Sands Capital. The company is also reportedly considering a partnership with Samsung Medison.
