Rumor Scanner Debunks Fake Video Circulated in the Name of Religious Affairs Adviser
Fact-checking organization Rumor Scanner has identified an attempt to create confusion by circulating a video of a different individual in the name of the Religious Affairs Adviser. The organization works to prevent rumors, fake news, and misinformation in Bangladesh and to ensure the dissemination of accurate information to the public.
According to the investigative team of the organization, the content that went viral claiming to show the Religious Affairs Adviser dancing is false. The video being circulated as footage of the adviser dancing actually features another person.
The country’s fact-checking institution has already identified hundreds of pieces of misinformation circulating on the internet.
According to observations by fact-checking organizations, following the mass uprising of Twenty-Four, there has been an increase in the spread of false information concerning Bangladesh from certain Indian media outlets, various social media accounts operated from India, and some domestic Facebook pages. Additionally, attempts to create confusion by spreading rumors and false information on various recent issues have also been detected.
