The Minister of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology and Minister of Science and Technology, Fakir Mahbub Anam, has directed top officials of state-owned mobile operator Teletalk Bangladesh Limited to demonstrate visible progress within a short time.

Addressing officials, he said that during the tenure of the current government, people must receive improved services from Teletalk. “We want to work together to implement the Prime Minister’s plan,” he added.

The directive was given on Tuesday, February 24, at the minister’s first meeting held at the Teletalk office in Gulshan, Dhaka. Adviser Rehan Asif Asad was present alongside the minister.

The meeting was attended by Posts and Telecommunications Secretary Abdoon Naser Khan, Director General of the Department of Information and Communication Technology Md. Abu Sayeed, Teletalk Managing Director Nurul Mabud Chowdhury, and other senior officials.

Adviser Asif Asad told Teletalk employees that the minister does not wish to know what did or did not happen over the past 20 years of the company’s journey. He said the Prime Minister is not concerned about why certain things did or did not occur during that period, and therefore the focus now must be on implementation.

Speaking as the chief guest at the meeting, Minister Fakir Mahbub Anam clearly outlined what Prime Minister Tarique Rahman expects. He said, “We want to quickly implement the Prime Minister’s commitments. We want visible implementation of people-friendly services. Delivering quickly on what we promised to the people is our responsibility. We want to be a people-friendly government. Keeping this in mind, we must plan our actions. The Prime Minister is working to implement his plans and vision for public welfare. Teletalk must also work to deliver services.”

Earlier, at the headquarters of Teletalk Bangladesh Limited, the minister was greeted with floral reception by the Teletalk Employees Welfare Association.
