Banglalink Brings Bangladesh’s First Bold VoWiFi

Bangladesh’s innovative digital operator Banglalink has launched the country’s first-ever Voice over Wi-Fi (VoWiFi) service. Initially, the service is being rolled out for corporate and individual mobile customers in select areas of Dhaka and Chattogram, with plans for phased nationwide expansion to allow more users to benefit from the service.

The service was launched in partnership with selected internet service providers (ISPs) on a pilot basis after receiving approval from the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC).

Banglalink stated that in locations such as homes, offices, or other indoor areas where network coverage is relatively weak, VoWiFi will enable customers to make seamless voice calls over Wi-Fi, ensuring more reliable communication. A key advantage of this technology is that it comes at no extra cost to users, making their daily communications easier and more convenient.

Commenting on the launch, Banglalink CEO Eohan Busse said, “At the heart of all our innovations lies a simple question – how can we make our customers’ lives easier? Launching Bangladesh’s first Voice over Wi-Fi service reflects our commitment. VoWiFi will make connections clearer and more dependable. Through this service, our customers can enjoy a comfortable digital lifestyle wherever they are. The launch marks a significant milestone in achieving Banglalink’s goals. Beyond fulfilling customer needs, this initiative contributes to advancing the country’s digital future. We are grateful to the regulator and all partners; it is through our collective effort that this service has become possible.”
