Chief Secretary Closes Facebook and Instagram Accounts to Avoid Confusion
The Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister's Office, ABM Abdus Sattar, has decided to deactivate (close) his personal Facebook and Instagram accounts. He confirmed this information himself via a press release on Monday, 23rd February.
In the statement, the Chief Secretary stated that, for the information of the general public and the media, he will not be using any personal Facebook or Instagram accounts for the time being. His previous accounts have already been deactivated.
The Chief Secretary noted that he currently does not have any active social media accounts. Therefore, he will not bear any responsibility if any individual creates fake social media accounts using his name and designation and attempts to spread any misleading information or rumours. He urged everyone to exercise caution in this regard.
The statement urged everyone to remain vigilant and stated that information should be collected from his official sources or government channels if necessary. He requested that people not be misled by any posts on social media using his name.
Previously, on Tuesday, 17th February, retired Secretary ABM Abdus Sattar was appointed as the Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, Tareq Rahman, according to Section 49 of the Government Employment Act, 2018. He had previously served as the Private Secretary to the BNP Chairman.
Additionally, on Monday, 23rd February, three secretaries, including the Secretary of the Prime Minister's Office (who was previously working in the office of the immediate past Chief Advisor), were removed from their posts and attached to the Ministry of Public Administration through a notification. The secretaries attached to the Ministry of Public Administration are Md. Saifullah Panna, Secretary of the Prime Minister's Office, Rehana Parveen, Secretary of the Secondary and Higher Education Division of the Ministry of Education, and Md. Kamal Uddin, Secretary of the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
