Transparency to Take Top Priority in ICT Sector: Minister Anam

Newly appointed Minister of the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology and the Ministry of Science and Technology, Fakir Mahbub Anam, has declared that transparency and accountability will be the guiding principles of the ICT sector.

He made the remarks on Wednesday, February 18, at a reception organized by the ICT Division at its conference room in Agargaon, Dhaka.

In his speech, the minister placed the highest emphasis on ensuring transparency and accountability in the ICT sector. He said that the professionalism and sincerity of officials are essential in implementing the policies determined by the government.

Fakir Mahbub Anam stated that ICT is an extremely important and promising sector. Expanding ICT services to every upazila in the country and making technological benefits easily accessible to ordinary citizens are among the government’s priorities. He called upon officials to work responsibly from their respective positions, saying, “Let us work together.”

The minister further mentioned that the new government aims to earn public trust through its work. Referring to the Prime Minister’s emphasis on prioritizing work above all else, he said that public expectations will be fulfilled through visible progress and effective initiatives.

Seeking cooperation from officials, the minister said that his main objective is to advance the ICT sector in a transparent and dynamic environment under a new vision and policy framework.

ICT Division Secretary Shish Haider Chowdhury welcomed the newly appointed minister and stated that the ICT Division is working as the center of the country’s digital transformation. The division is implementing various projects, including formulating ICT laws and policies, establishing data centers and hi-tech parks, providing more than 450 digital services, supporting startups and innovation, strengthening cybersecurity, and developing skilled human resources. He pledged to work collectively under the minister’s guidance to ensure transparency and accountability in implementing government policies.

Senior officials of the ICT Division, heads of various departments and agencies, and other officers and staff were present at the event.
