Dean’s Distinction: Six Teachers, Thirty Students Honored at RU Science Faculty
Six teachers and 30 meritorious students from the Faculty of Science at the Rajshahi University (RU) have received the Dean’s Award 2025.
The honors were formally presented at a ceremony held on Tuesday, February 10, at the university’s Senate Building, in recognition of their outstanding contributions to academic excellence.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Saleh Hasan Naqib attended the program as the chief guest and handed over certificates and award cheques to the recipient teachers and students.
The event was chaired by Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Professor Md. Farid Uddin Khan. Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Professor Mohammad Main Uddin was present as a special guest. Emeritus Professor A K M Azharul Islam of the Department of Physics attended as an honored guest.
Among the award-winning teachers, Professor Mohammad Ali Akbar, Professor Md. Golam Hossain, Professor Syed Rasel Kabir, and Professor Md. Sakhawat Hossain expressed their feelings at the event. Representing the students, Tousif Imroz Khaledi and Sonali Akter also shared their reflections.
The program began with an introductory speech by Professor F. Nazrul Islam, Chairman of the Department of Physics.
Among the recipients of the Dean’s Article Award, one teacher each was selected from the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and the Department of Population Science and Human Resource Development.
Among the Dean’s Award recipients in the teacher category, two were from the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and one from the Department of Applied Mathematics and Statistics.
Of the 30 student awardees, two are from the Department of Population Science and Human Resource Development; three each from the Departments of Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, and Pharmacy; four each from the Departments of Applied Mathematics and Physical Education and Sports Science; and the highest number—five students—are from the Department of Chemistry.
Congratulating the award recipients, Vice-Chancellor Professor Saleh Hasan Naqib said that behind every achievement lies not only individual merit but also the collective contributions of teachers, families, and society. He noted that the Dean’s Award not only recognizes the excellence of distinguished teachers and students but also honors their families and mentors. Through such recognition, he added, the image and reputation of the University of Rajshahi are further enhanced.
Chairpersons, teachers, and students from various departments under the faculty were present at the ceremony.
The event was conducted by Dr. Nasiruddin of the Department of Chemistry and Dr. Ruma Parveen of the Department of Physics.
