Postal Process Peaks: Nearly 3 Lakh Expats’ Ballots Reach Bangladesh
Following the IT-supported postal ballot voting, a total of 297,350 ballots from expatriates have reached Bangladesh. According to the parcel tracking system managed by the postal department, 6,042 of these special postal envelopes have already arrived with the returning officers.
On 3 February, the Election Commission (EC) reported that 766,862 ballots were dispatched from various countries, with 524,080 accepted by voters. Voting was completed by 467,707 individuals, and 423,712 ballots were submitted by voters to the respective countries’ post offices or ballot boxes. Of these, 297,350 ballots have now arrived in Bangladesh, with 6,042 received by the returning officers.
Domestically, 646,507 ballots were sent to registered voters. Out of these, 125,668 voters received their ballots, and 96,632 have cast their votes. A total of 70,810 ballots were deposited in post offices or ballot boxes, while 3,655 have reached the returning officers.
The EC has announced that any ballot not received by 4:30 pm on 12 February will be considered invalid.
