So Far, Nearly 30,000 Overseas Postal Ballots Reached Bangladesh Ahead of 13th Parliamentary Poll

Nearly 30,000 ballots cast by expatriate voters through postal voting have arrived in Bangladesh ahead of the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election and referendum, the Election Commission (EC) has said. The development indicates that around 8,000 additional ballots were received within a single day.

In a press release issued on Wednesday, January 28, the Election Commission stated that ballot papers have so far been delivered to the addresses of 766,862 expatriate voters. Of them, 499,328 voters have received their ballots, while 432,989 have already completed voting.

According to the EC, a total of 379,579 completed ballots have been deposited in postal mailboxes abroad for return to Bangladesh. Of these, 29,728 postal ballots have so far reached the country.

The commission also noted that as of the morning of January 27, the total number of postal ballots received stood at 21,508, highlighting a significant increase within 24 hours.

The Election Commission continues to process incoming ballots as part of its efforts to ensure expatriate participation in the forthcoming national election and referendum.
