The exhibition of local and international technology products began in 2015, with the ‘Digital Device Expo’ being held regularly until the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic. The last edition, titled the ‘Digital Device and Innovation Expo’, was held in 2021. That year, the fair took place on a limited scale at the Bangladesh Film Archive in Agargaon, Dhaka, under the slogan “Make Here, Sell Everywhere.”

After a gap of several years, the sixth edition of the Digital Device and Innovation Expo is set to open on Wednesday, January 28, at the Bangabandhu China–Friendship Conference Center in the capital.

The fair is being jointly organized through a tripartite partnership among the Information and Communication Technology Division, the Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority, and the Bangladesh Computer Samity (BCS). Samsung is the platinum sponsor of the event and has set up its pavilion at the very center of the exhibition venue. Gold sponsors include Epson, Honor, HP, Lenovo, Oppo, Tecno, and Xiaomi, all of whom are showcasing their products through dedicated pavilions.

Compared to earlier years, when computers, printers, and monitors dominated the exhibition space, this year’s fair shows a clear shift toward mobile phones and peripherals.

At around 11:00 am, Nobel Laureate and Chief Adviser of the interim government, Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, entered the exhibition venue to inaugurate the event. Tight security measures were put in place for his visit, causing inconvenience for many visitors, including technology journalists and invited guests, who were required to leave their mobile phones and digital devices at the gate. Those without vehicles had to deposit their devices before entering, while many others were seen waiting outside. Visitors eager to explore new products and services and to purchase devices at discounted prices were seen waiting for the exhibition to open to the general public later in the day.

Following the Chief Adviser’s inauguration, the expo has been opened to all visitors. The welcome speech at the opening ceremony was delivered by Mohammad Mamunur Rashid, Managing Director of the Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority. The ceremony is being chaired by ICT Division Secretary Shish Haider Chowdhury, with Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser, attending as a special guest. Also present at the event is Mohammad Zahirul Islam, President of the Bangladesh Computer Samity, one of the organizing partners.

The opening ceremony of the three-day expo will also see the unveiling of the logo and website of the Bangladesh Innovation Challenge.

Meanwhile, according to the official social media handles of DDI Expo 2026, the “Best of PC Battle” competition will begin at 3:00 pm. The fair is open to everyone free of charge upon online registration. Visitors who share photos from the venue on social media will be eligible to participate in a photo challenge featuring a prize pool of BDT 20,000. The expo will run daily from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm.
