The Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) has reduced its admission fees for the 2024–25 academic session in response to student demands. The revised fee has been set at BDT 14,900—down by BDT 3,100 from the previous year’s admission fee of BDT 18,000.

The admission process for first-year students of the first semester will commence on Tuesday, April 15, at 9:00 AM and will continue until Thursday, April 17.

According to Acting Registrar Syed Selim Mohammad Abdul Kadir, the decision was made during an emergency Academic Council meeting held on Friday, April 11.

The meeting was chaired by Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. A.M. Sarowar Uddin Chowdhury and attended by Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Sajedul Karim, Treasurer Professor Dr. Md. Ismail Hossain, and heads of various departments.

Vice-Chancellor Dr. A.M. Sarowar Uddin Chowdhury remarked, “The students are like our own children. All university activities are undertaken for their welfare. We must treat them with kindness so they become more attentive in classes, exams, and research.”

According to Academic Council sources, the admission fee for the 2024–25 session was initially set at BDT 17,000. However, following student appeals, the university reviewed and revised the amount, ultimately setting it at BDT 14,900.

For the 2023–24 academic year, the admission fee had stood at BDT 18,000. Thus, the new fee structure reflects a significant reduction of BDT 3,100 from the previous year.
