The Posts and Telecommunications Division has expressed deep sorrow and condolences at the death of former Prime Minister of Bangladesh and uncompromising democratic leader Begum Khaleda Zia.

In a condolence message, Posts and Telecommunications Secretary Abdun Naser Khan described Begum Khaleda Zia as a symbol of courageous and far-sighted leadership in the nation’s history. He said she played an outstanding role in the restoration of democracy, the advancement of women’s political participation, administrative decentralisation, and economic reforms.

Under her leadership, Bangladesh moved to a new height of political awareness, women’s empowerment, and democratic consciousness, the secretary noted. He added that her contributions to national politics were undeniable and that her passing has left the country deprived of an experienced, humane, and inspirational leader and guardian.

Widely known as an uncompromising leader, Begum Khaleda Zia was described as a bright star in Bangladesh’s political landscape. Her demise, the message said, marks an irreparable loss in the history of the country’s democratic struggle.

On behalf of all officers and employees of the Posts and Telecommunications Division, Abdun Naser Khan prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and expressed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members.
