Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb Visits Grameenphone’s Sylhet Data Center

Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb, Special Assistant in charge of the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology under the Chief Adviser, visited Grameenphone’s Sylhet Data Center. As a symbolic gesture, Mr. Taiyeb, along with Secretary Abdun Naser Khan, planted saplings on the premises of the data center, signifying a commitment to an eco-friendly and sustainable digital future.
Accompanying him during the visit were Abdun Naser Khan, Secretary of the Posts and Telecommunications Division; Anwar Masud, Chief General Manager of Bangladesh Telecommunications Company Limited (BTCL); and Md. Abdur Raihan, Director and Head of Technology Infrastructure Management at Grameenphone. Representatives from various organizations were also present.
According to a press release issued by the operator on September 8, the special assistant visited the Tier-III standard data center on September 6. Following the inspection, Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb remarked, “Global-standard infrastructure is essential for Bangladesh’s digital transformation journey. This data center reflects a visionary approach to building a technologically advanced Bangladesh through reliable, sustainable, and future-ready digital solutions.”
Abdun Naser Khan, Secretary of the Posts and Telecommunications Division, added, “The government welcomes initiatives by the private sector to build state-of-the-art infrastructure, which will help realize the dream of transforming Bangladesh into a global digital hub.”
Md. Abdur Raihan, Director and Head of Technology Infrastructure Management at Grameenphone, said, “We are proud to have built such a modern data center that will meet the growing demands of the digital ecosystem. Grameenphone is committed to ensuring trust, sustainability, and technological excellence in Bangladesh’s telecom sector, and this data center is a testament to that commitment.”
Grameenphone inaugurated its first Tier-III standard data center in Sylhet last year. The Super Core Data Center is the largest among those established by the country’s mobile network operators (MNOs). Designed as a container-based modular facility, the center prioritizes environmental sustainability with efficient energy management and the use of eco-friendly Novec gas for fire suppression. It is also equipped with advanced monitoring and intrusion detection technologies to ensure maximum safety and security of customer data.
