After 17 years, BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman is set to return to the country on 25 December. As part of efforts to make his homecoming “memorable,” the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has launched a social media reel-making competition.

Titled “My Vision for Bangladesh,” the competition has outlined 11 thematic areas, including family card, farmer card, employment, education, environment, sports, dignity of imams and muezzins, expatriates, a corruption-free Bangladesh, and personal visions for the country. Participants can create a one-minute video on any of these themes and upload it on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, or TikTok.

People of any age, both at home and abroad, are eligible to participate by posting their videos on BNP’s social media platforms using the hashtag #BangladeshFirst. Winners will be selected based on 70 percent judges’ scores and 30 percent public votes.

According to Dr Mahdi Amin, adviser to Tarique Rahman, 10 winners of the competition will get the opportunity for a one-on-one interaction with the BNP acting chairman.

The announcement was made at a press conference held at BNP’s election office in Gulshan on 16 December. Dr Mahdi Amin said the competition will run from 16 December to 25 December, adding that the initiative aims to highlight the thoughts and expectations of people of all ages, particularly the youth.

He expressed hope that the “My Vision for Bangladesh” competition would create a platform for showcasing aspirations and ideas for the country’s future through social media.

Also present at the press conference were Ismail Jabiullah, adviser to the BNP chairperson; Simon Parvez, member of the party’s international affairs committee; and Shairul Kabir Khan, a member of BNP’s media cell, among others.
