BUBT to Host ICPC Asia Dhaka Regional 2025 on December 20
The world’s most prestigious programming competition, the ICPC Asia Dhaka Regional Contest 2025, often described as the “Olympics of Programming,” will be held on 20 December at the campus of Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT). For the fourth time, BUBT has earned the honor of hosting this renowned international contest.
This year’s competition will witness a record participation, with 313 teams comprising 939 talented programmers from across Bangladesh competing in the final round, said BUBT Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr ABM Shawkat Ali.
He shared the information at a press conference held on Wednesday, 17 December, at the International Conference Hall of BUBT’s permanent campus.
In his written statement, Professor Dr Shawkat Ali said the primary objective of the competition is to identify the best programmers in the country and help them nurture their talent so they can represent Bangladesh on the global stage.
Mohammad Shamsul Huda, a member of the BUBT Trustee Board, was present at the press conference as a special guest.
Journalists’ questions and technical aspects of the contest were addressed by Mohammad Saifur Rahman, Regional Contest Director (RCD) of ICPC Asia Dhaka Site 2025 and Chairman of BUBT’s CSE Department, along with Professor Dr Abul Lais M. S. Haque, Associate Director of ICPC Asia Dhaka Site 2025 and Professor of the ECE Department at North South University (NSU).
Also present on the dais were Shahriar Manzur, ICPC World Finals Judge (2003–2018), and Professor Dr Munshi Mahbubur Rahman, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Sciences at BUBT. The event was moderated by Assistant Professor Md Ashraful Islam of BUBT’s CSE Department.
