Elon Musk’s space exploration company SpaceX is planning an initial public offering (IPO) next year. The initiative could raise over $25 billion and potentially value the company at more than $1 trillion, according to a source familiar with the matter. The news was reported by TechCrunch.

According to the source, SpaceX has already begun preliminary discussions with several banks regarding the IPO. The listing could take place around June or July 2026.

Musk had previously stated that their satellite internet service, Starlink, would only be taken public when its revenue becomes “stable and predictable.” However, this time, the path is opening for a full IPO of SpaceX itself.

To date, Saudi Aramco is the only company to have completed an IPO valued over $1 trillion, with a market valuation of $1.7 trillion at the time of its 2019 listing.

Bloomberg reported that SpaceX intends to use the proceeds from the IPO to build space-based data centers. The company also plans to purchase high-performance chips necessary for these data centers.

SpaceX’s revenue is expected to reach approximately $15 billion in 2025 and grow to between $22 billion and $24 billion in 2026, with a large portion coming from Starlink.

Last week, some reports suggested that SpaceX is pursuing a secondary share sale, which would raise the company’s valuation to $800 billion, competing with OpenAI for the title of “most valuable privately-owned company.” Musk, however, dismissed these claims as “false.”
