Google and Apple have begun working together on a new initiative aimed at making data transfer between their mobile operating systems significantly easier. Early indications of the project were discovered in the latest Android Canary build, which has already been released for developers, according to a report by GSM Arena.

The report notes that the feature will take more time to reach the stable version of Android. Similarly, Apple is expected to introduce the capability in its upcoming iOS 26 release.

The new system will allow more types of data to be transferred between the two platforms than before, along with additional functionalities.

Currently, users must rely on the “Android Switch” app to move from iOS to Android, and the “Move to iOS” app to go from Android to iOS. With the new feature integrated directly into both operating systems, switching devices is expected to become easier, faster, and more seamless.
