Google Gives Voice Search a Visual Refresh on Android
After a long time, Google is rolling out a major design overhaul to voice search in the Google app on Android. The new redesign has begun reaching users gradually and aims to make the voice search experience more modern and visually cleaner. The update was reported by 9to5Google.
According to the report, the familiar four-dot waveform interface has now been replaced by a gradient-colored “G” logo positioned at the center of the screen. Alongside it appear a back button and a three-dot menu. From this menu, users can select language preferences, enable or disable spoken results, and choose from four voice options—Cosmo, Neso, Terra, and Cassini. Subtle refinements have also been introduced to the dark theme.
During voice input, the screen displays the text “Listening…,” accompanied by a four-color arc at the bottom that aligns visually with AI Mode and Search Live. Additionally, a larger “Search a song” button has been added, allowing users to identify music by playing it, humming, or singing.
The redesign is currently visible in Google app version 17.1 (stable) and 17.2 (beta), though it has not yet been rolled out to all users.
