Apple is officially set to introduce its first low-cost MacBook in early 2026, according to a report initially published by DigiTimes and now reaffirmed by Bloomberg, as cited by GSM Arena.

According to the report, Apple has already placed initial production orders with its suppliers, with plans to release the device in the first quarter of next year.

The upcoming laptop is expected to feature a lower-grade LCD display and utilize an iPhone A-series chipset—one reportedly faster than Apple’s first-generation M1 processor. The display will be smaller than the 13.6-inch MacBook Air, and the price is expected to be under USD 1,000.

The purpose of this new MacBook series is to compete in the entry-level personal computer and Chromebook market segment. Chromebooks currently range in price from USD 200 to 700. Industry analysts expect the new MacBook to be positioned around USD 700 to 800.
